Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September. 21 1982) is a well-known American actress. Most notably, she was the character Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV show and Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. After her parents divorced, she moved with her mom in Los Angeles. Although she was struggling financially and in the beginning, she made her acting debut in the role of Rachel's Room's principal character. She went on to earn a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002, for her role as the 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder set in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford was the lead actress in Lost during its initial two seasons. In 2004, she was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award with the entire ensemble. Leaving the series Grace wanted to appear more prominently in film having played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. The following year, she starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and, opposite the Liam Neeson character Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) are her re-casts of the role. Grace returned to Shannon's character as Shannon in Lost for two additional episodes. This included the finale of the series. In 2013, she appears in Californianation, the sixth season. She plays Faith as a groupie, and also her muse to the stars who captures the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the daughter and older sister to actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens, she began to work in small roles for her father. She was also in Donnie Darko alongside her twin brother. She then appeared on the screen in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal won critical praise for her performance as the lead of Secretary (2002) which is the erotic drama about romance and Sherrybaby (2006). The actress was also nominated for The Golden Globe Award. In the wake of several successful commercial films like World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely in the role of Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). Her performance in Crazy Heart as a mother who is a single parent was nominated to an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. The following years, she starred in comedies as well as dramatic movies: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. Other roles she has played includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 Action thriller) and actors in Frank (2014, drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) as well as her role as the kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal made her debut as a writer and director in 2021 with her psycho-drama The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received an award for the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and nominated for an Academy Award.
